Forbes Rates Fort Collins, Colorado as a Top U.S. Destination to Visit This 2019

Forbes, a well-known national publication, ranked Fort Collins, Colorado as one of the top travel locations to visit in the U.S. in 2019. The magazine listed Fort Collins, nicknamed the Choice City, among 14 recommended travel destinations. It included Fort Collins along with other major cities like New York, Nashville, Tennessee, and Baltimore, Maryland.

Highlights of Fort Collins

Olivia Balsinger, a broadcast and travel journalist who has journeyed to 96 countries, was the expert who included the Choice City in Forbes’ Best Places list. She described Fort Collins as a travel destination with an entrepreneurial spirit and an energetic art scene – both of which make the hour-long drive from Denver worth it. She felt like being in a movie scene as she strolled through the streets.

When asked for the reasons for choosing Fort Collins, Balsinger cited the range of outdoor adventures, a growing arts scene, and a “maker” culture. She also specifically mentioned a few “community gems” that made the Choice City a great place to visit.

New Belgium Brewery, a 100 percent employee-owned craft brewery, offered tasty brews that use the freshest of local ingredients. She also enjoyed (and learned how to make) farm-to-table delicacies with Farm Fusion, a school that allows the public to educate themselves on cooking, pairings, and presentation. Similarly, she took part in a demonstration dedicated to promoting the enjoyment of local and healthy food at Ginger & Baker. This complex has become home to event spaces, teaching kitchen, restaurants, a bakery, and a market.
