As things open up here in Colorado, let’s take a quick look at what that means for your home’s value and real estate as a whole. Way back when the pandemic started, I anticipated that we
Wire Fraud—It Can Happen to You
Today I want to discuss wire fraud. Wire fraud is becoming much more prevalent, and criminals are getting skilled at taking advantage of people and trying to secure money via wire transfers. Once that money is sent, it gets shipped overseas and it’s gone—you can’t get that money back.
I wanted to speak about this topic because if you are doing transactions in real estate or any kind of monetary wire transfers, you need to know about this, because people are becoming savvy and taking advantage of others, and stealing money from unsuspecting consumers.
As a first time homebuyer, you may not know any different. Recently, we were able to catch a fraud that was being attempted on one of our clients. We ended up saving our client about $30,000. If we weren't staying on top of that, the money would have been lost to a hacker.
Be aware of scams. Don’t ever just send money—double-check that it’s going to the right place. Do as much as you can over the phone, because people are getting good at hacking and mirroring emails. Make sure your funds are going where they should. It’s happening to people, it can happen to you. Make sure you and your loved ones are taken care of. Don’t let anyone take advantage of you.
Let us know if you have any specific questions about this. If you want to speak about this topic or anything else regarding real estate, we would love to speak to you, so call us or send us an email.
